Single Point Access For SPARK Stakeholders
THE Sungai Liang Authority (SLA) in its aim to establish the Sungai Liang Industrial Park (SPARK) as a globally-competitive industrial hub has appointed two local contractors, United Engineers (B) Sdn Bhd, and Swee Sdn Bhd, for the construction of the Zone Village and the development of the infrastructure works at SPARK respectively.
The guest of honour at the signing ceremony was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major-General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud, the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office.
The contract for the development of the Zone Village was signed by John Lee Seng P oh, General Manager of United Engineers (B) Sdn Bhd, and Chairman of SLA Pengiran Kerma Raja Pengiran Hail Kamarulzaman bin Pengiran Pekerma Setia DiRaja Sahibul Bandar Pengiran Haji Ali.
The Zone Village, a modern state-of-the-art complex which will incorporate energy efficient concepts in its design, will be developed on a 6.7-hectare plot of land at SPARK, situated adjacent to the main entrance.
The purpose of this $15-million project is-to provide a single point access administrative hub, which will accommodate common facilities to provide investors and tenants a cost-efficient business operation in SPARK, as well as for the general community of Sungai Liang.
According to Awg Bahrin Haji Mohammed, Senior Engineer and Design from Planning and Development Department of SLA, some of the facilities at the Zone Village will include a SPARK Centre that will house conference and meeting rooms, office spaces for lease and a Discovery Centre. Arkitek Idris will head the design and consultancy services.
"The facilities which are available for the public, investors and tenants will include a multi-purpose hall for sporting and social events, and a Recreation Block which will include shop units, restaurants and cafe outlets, medical clinic, post office and banking facilities," said Awg Bahrin during his presentation on the development of Zone Village.
The contract for the Advance Infrastructure Works was signed by Toh King Liam, the Managing Director of Swee Sdn Bhd. and the Chairman of the SLA, Pengiran Kerma Raja Pengiran Haji Kamarulzaman.
Supporting the way to a single point access of facilities at SPARK is the Advanced Infrastructure Works, which will commence this month.
According to Pengiran Kerma Raja Pengiran Kamarulzaman, Chairman of SLA, "It is our intent to commission the necessary infrastructure works and to ensure that it is up-to-date with technology, so as to facilitate the needs of our investors and tenants at SPARK, where they can comfortably and confidently grow their business with us.
"Simultaneously, the community will also be able to enjoy the facilities available for their recreational sporting purposes," he added.
The SPARK Infrastructure Works are to be undertaken by Swee Sdn Bhd, the leading agency in the recently appointed consortium for the Design and Build Infrastructure Works at SPARK.
According to Awg Bahrin, the scope of work will include the development of a road network to facilitate movement of vehicles in and around the SPARK site; and surface water drainage system to dispose of the surface water to the main storm water drainage system.
"Ancillary works will include telecommunications exchange network, IT networks, landscaping, firewater works and security system, such as RFID access control, fencing, gatehouse, CCTV and lighting.
"Domestic wastewater works required for the collection, treatment and disposal of domestic wastewater from the service corridor around SPARK and Zone Village; as well as power and water distribution system, which would be obtained from the national grid system where applicable," said Awg Bahrin in the presentation on Infrastructure Works at SPARK.
