Nokia sales in Malaysia going well despite gloom
LEADING mobile phone maker Nokia says its sales in Malaysia is still going well and its market share maintained despite the present unfavourable economic condition.
"Our sales are all right and our market share is still about the same," Nokia general manager for Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, Vlasta Berka said today, on the sideline of the launch of the Nokia N97.
On the new series, Berka said the phone maker is capitalising on the current influence of social networking to connect people.
"Social networking is also key to what the Nokia N97 is bringing to the table which is why we created a customised Facebook experience for the Nokia N97."
"By connecting users to their friends on platform like Facebook and Friendster, we are doing what we do best - connecting people," he said.
Meanwhile, Nokia vice president for sales, South East and Asia Pacific, Christ Carr said the N97 brought the features and power of a mobile computer to a compact, pocket table package.
He, however, declined to comment on sales target for the N97 which retails at RM2,480.
"Fuelled by a multitude of media and application through the Obi Store, the Nokia N97 transforms the internet into an experience that is completely tailored to the taste and interest of its user," he said. - Bernama
